Whistleblower Lawyers - Finch McCranie, LLP
We are a firm of lawyers who, as federal prosecutors, prosecuted fraud and crimes against the government. We now represent citizen "whistleblowers" who are helping stop fraud against federal and state government programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, FEMA disaster relief contracts, and Iraq reconstruction contracts, to name a few. The whistleblowers can receive a substantial part of the funds recovered by the government.
We also are one of the first law firms to work with the IRS in representing "tax whistleblowers" in the new IRS Whistleblower Rewards program. With the IRS Whistleblower Office, we have helped organize seminars to educate lawyers on how to represent clients in bringing IRS Whistleblower claims. This whistleblower program is designed to stop tax cheating that causes honest taxpayers to have to pay more than their share. Our IRS Whistleblower clients can now receive up to 30% of the unpaid taxes, interest, and penalties collected by the government.
When Congress was drafting legislation to create the SEC and CFTC Whistleblower Programs that were established in July 2010, the Senate Banking Committee staff contacted us to discuss what a meaningful whistleblower program must include. The final version of the law incorporated the changes we urged-a whistleblower's enforceable right to a reward, and a meaningful percentage of the funds recovered.
Our experience with the major "whistleblower" law that inspired the new IRS, SEC, and CFTC whistleblower laws, the federal False Claims Act, dates back to the late 1980s.
We are regularly consulted by major publications such as the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the foreign press on whistleblower issues.
Our whistleblower clients include accountants, business executives, financial professionals, physicians and other health care professionals, and other people who have been offended when they saw fraud against the government. They serve an admirable purpose in helping our government root out fraud.
Our lawyers are also "good citizens" who serve their communities. We regularly serve on boards of nonprofit organizations, and are often asked by judges and other lawyers to speak at seminars and conferences. Finch McCranie, LLP
